Makina city drowned in warm ocean currents
In the aftermath of the recent floods in Makinsk, Akmolinsk region, Kazakhstan, recovery efforts are underway with a significant presence of emergency response teams and equipment.
Approximately 400 people, including four emergency response teams comprising 130 personnel, are involved in the liquidation efforts. These teams are equipped with around 100 units of special equipment, provided by the EMERCOM departments of Akmolinsk region and the city of Nur-Sultan.
To reinforce dams and protect residential areas, sandbags filled with inert material are being laid in Makinsk. Rescuers are working tirelessly, pumping water from flooded areas around the clock. The deployment includes 12 motor pumps and a mobile pumping station.
The Vice-Minister of Emergency Situations, Ramyl Kamalov, and the Akim of Akmolinsk region, Marat Ahmetjanov, have arrived at the scene to personally oversee the work. Their presence underscores the gravity of the situation and the commitment to ensure its swift resolution.
The timely measures taken have resulted in a drop of one meter in the water level in Makinsk. The opening of roads in the town is also proving effective in reducing hydraulic pressure on the populated area and minimizing the risk of further flooding.
However, the flood situation in the Bulandy District is worsening, necessitating increased forces and resources for the liquidation of aftermath. The authorities are making all necessary efforts to ensure the safety of the population in Makinsk.
