Major League Baseball's New York Mets prospects Jonah Tong and Jett Williams have been elevated to their Triple-A affiliate team.
The Mets have bolstered their Triple-A Syracuse team with six of their top prospects, following a series of promotions from the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
Jett Williams, the top-ranked Mets prospect according to MLB Pipeline (#30), is among those who have been promoted. Williams, a versatile infielder/outfielder, showcased his talent at Double-A Binghamton this season, batting .281 with 10 home runs, 37 RBIs, 32 stolen bases, and an impressive .867 OPS.
Another standout player is Jonah Tong, the Mets' No. 2 prospect and a top pitching prospect. Tong led the minor leagues with an impressive 154 strikeouts over 20 starts at Double-A Binghamton before his promotion. Tong's impressive performance earned him a spot in the All-Star Futures Game in July.
Carson Benge, ranked as the Mets' No. 20 prospect, and Ryan Clifford, ranked No. 8, have also been promoted. Benge and Clifford, an infielder and outfielder respectively, had excellent performances at Double-A before their promotions.
Nolan McLean and Brandon Sproat, both pitchers, were already with Syracuse before these recent promotions.
The departure of Williams, Tong, Benge, and Clifford from Double-A Binghamton has left a gap in the team's roster. As of early August 2025, the specific updated Binghamton roster post-promotions has not been published.
The Mets have also called up several of their top position prospects, alongside Tong. A.J. Ewing, a prospect from High-A, has been promoted to Double-A. The Mets' current Double-A roster will include Ewing after the promotion.
Ryan Clifford, Jett Williams, and Carson Benge will join the ranks of Syracuse's key players, forming a formidable lineup for the remainder of the season. The Mets organization's current roster after these promotions is yet to be announced.
Syracuse's Triple-A team will soon see the addition of top Mets prospects Jett Williams (MLB Pipeline's #30) and Ryan Clifford (ranked No. 8) as they make their way from the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Jonah Tong, the Mets' No. 2 prospect and a top pitching prospect, has also been promoted and is expected to contribute significantly with his impressive 154 strikeouts this season.
