Major League Baseball team, the Brewers, have put pitcher Jose Quintana on the Injured List, and there are doubts about the return of star pitcher Trevor Megill from his injury.

Brewers' Closer Trevor Megill Remains Sidelined with Right Flexor Strain

The Milwaukee Brewers are facing a challenging situation as their All-Star closer, Trevor Megill, continues to recover from a right flexor strain. According to manager Pat Murphy, Megill's recent throwing sessions have not gone as well as hoped, and his return from the injured list remains uncertain.

Megill has been on the injured list since Aug. 27, and the Brewers have been closely monitoring his recovery, but have not provided specific dates or a clear return timeline. The exact timeline for Megill's return is unclear, and hurrying his recovery for a flexor strain is not advisable.

Manager Murphy expressed hope that Megill will pitch before the postseason, but emphasized the importance of prioritizing Megill's health. In the meantime, the Brewers are trying to evaluate options for the bullpen over the last 11 days of the season.

While Megill is sidelined, the Brewers have received some positive news regarding Robert Gasser, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery. Gasser pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings for Triple-A Nashville, and Murphy finds Gasser's performance encouraging for the bullpen. Gasser could potentially serve in a multi-inning role for the Brewers.

In other injury news, veteran lefty pitcher Jose Quintana was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a left calf strain. Quintana was hurt while hustling to cover first base during Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Nick Mears, a right-handed reliever, has been reinstated from the 15-day injured list to replace Quintana on the roster.

Chad Patrick has been stepping up for the Brewers in Quintana's absence. Patrick struck out the side in the eighth inning of Tuesday's game against the Angels, and Murphy finds Patrick's performance encouraging for the bullpen.

Despite the challenges posed by the injuries to Megill and Quintana, the Brewers remain optimistic about their chances in the postseason. The team is disappointed about the situation with Megill's injury, but Murphy is trying to stay positive and find solutions to strengthen the bullpen.
