Major League Baseball team Mets promote promising young players to Triple-A level, with no immediate reinforcements for the main league at this time.
Mets' Top Prospects Shine in Triple-A
The New York Mets have promoted their top prospects, Jett Williams, Jonah Tong, Carson Benge, and Ryan Clifford, from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse in August 2025. These young talents are now contributing to one of Triple-A's most talented rosters, leading the International League in its second half with a 29-10 record.
Jett Williams, the Mets' number one overall prospect, has continued to perform well since his promotion. He hit his first Triple-A home run shortly after joining the team, adding to his solid 2025 season stats where he had 10 homers and 32 steals in Double-A. At Triple-A, he is maintaining his offensive production and remains a top-tier prospect in the Mets' system.
Jonah Tong, one of the system’s top pitchers and the Minor League strikeout leader with 162 strikeouts, moved up the ranks after dominating at Double-A. He posted a 1.58 ERA with a league-high 154 strikeouts across 19 starts in Double-A, and is seen as a potential late-season call-up candidate due to his strong numbers and effectiveness as a right-hander, now pitching at Triple-A.
Carson Benge, ranked the Mets’ number one prospect at midseason, was promoted alongside Williams and Tong. While specific Triple-A performance details post-promotion are not yet available, his promotion signals that he's on the radar for a big-league opportunity. Benge batted .317 with a .978 OPS, eight home runs, and 23 RBI in 32 games in the Eastern League.
Ryan Clifford, who was acquired from the Houston Astros in the Justin Verlander deal two years ago, was also promoted along with the others. While less prominent in the immediate reports than Tong or Williams, Clifford now joins the organization’s upper echelon close to the majors. He has hit 24 home runs and 75 RBI in 105 games.
Together with other top talents like Nolan McLean and Brandon Sproat, these four young players anchor a Syracuse Mets team that is showcasing the organization's depth and proximity to strengthening the Major League roster. Initial speculation suggests that Tong's promotion could fill a Triple-A roster spot if either Sproat or McLean are called up to the big leagues.
The Mets' starting rotation has gone 51 games without two different pitchers going six-plus innings in a start, which is the longest drought since at least 1901. The arrival of these top prospects could provide a much-needed boost to the team's pitching staff and offensive lineup.
