Ethan Holliday, the highly-touted shortstop prospect and son of seven-time MLB All-Star Matt Holliday, made his professional debut with the Colorado Rockies' Single-A affiliate, the Fresno Grizzlies, on Tuesday night.
In his debut game against the Stockton Ports, Holliday showcased his offensive potential, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a single and a double, earning his first extra-base hit in the 5th inning. While his professional stats are limited, early reports suggest a promising batting line with an on-base percentage around .500 and slugging near .750.
Holliday, who was the 4th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, had an exceptional senior season at Stillwater High School (Oklahoma), boasting a .611 batting average, 19 home runs, 64 RBIs, a 1.295 slugging percentage, and a 2.038 OPS. He was recognised as Baseball America's High School Player of the Year and was considered the top high school prospect entering the draft.
