Major 12km road renewal begins on Icker Landstraße next week

A major road renewal project is set to begin on Icker Landstraße (L 87) between Belm and Bramsche-Engter. The work, covering around 12 kilometres, marks the largest refurbishment of federal and state roads in Osnabrück district this year. Construction kicks off on Tuesday, 26 May, with the first phase focusing on resurfacing and cycle path upgrades. The initial stage will start near the B 51 on-ramp in Belm and stretch toward Bramsche-Engter. During this period, Power Weg (K 342) will close entirely to vehicles, while the L 87 remains open under temporary traffic signals. Drivers heading to Icker will be redirected via Haster Straße, Bremer Straße, Venner Straße, and Lechtinger Straße.

The first phase also includes refurbishing the roundabout at Icker Landstraße (L 87) and Power Weg (K 342), just south of Icker. This work is expected to take two to three weeks, though adverse weather could extend the timeline. Once completed, crews will move on to the section between Belm and the roundabout. The entire project will unfold in multiple phases, ensuring minimal disruption where possible. However, some closures and diversions will remain necessary as the work progresses.

The renewal effort will improve road surfaces and cycle paths along a key route in Osnabrück district. While the first phase may cause temporary delays, traffic signals and diversions aim to keep disruption to a minimum. Further updates on timings and closures will follow as the project advances.
