**Edimilson Fernandes Seals Permanent Move to BSC Young Boys Bern**

Edimilson Fernandes, the versatile midfielder with extensive experience, has completed a permanent transfer from 1. FSV Mainz 05 to BSC Young Boys Bern in the Bundesliga. The 29-year-old Swiss international has signed a four-year contract running until June 2029 with Young Boys, marking his return to the Swiss club where he had previously spent a loan spell in 2022.

Fernandes, who played a total of 97 matches for Mainz 05, approached the club with a wish to join Young Boys after a successful loan spell at Stade Brest last season. Mainz's sports director, Christian Heidel, confirmed that the club agreed to the transfer based on this request.

Young Boys see Fernandes as a player who will bring leadership and stability to their central midfield. The Swiss club's sporting director emphasized Fernandes' role as a leader in the squad going forward.

Throughout his career, Fernandes has made appearances in five of Europe's top leagues (Germany, England, Italy, France, Switzerland), with notable stats such as 98 Bundesliga appearances and 62 in the Swiss Super League. He has also been a Swiss national team regular, with 34 appearances so far.

The transfer fee or other financial details were not disclosed by either club. However, Young Boys are confident that Fernandes will contribute heavily to their midfield leadership and ambitions. The transfer deal is now finalized, and Fernandes has officially left 1. FSV Mainz 05.
