Mainz's 2026 electronic music festival bridges generations with family-friendly beats
Mainz is set to host a unique electronic music festival in 2026. The High Root Open Air x Summer in the City event will take place at the historic Zitadelle on June 26. Organisers promise a mix of top DJs and a welcoming space for families, blending nightlife with daytime fun for all ages. The festival's lineup includes international names like Milk & Sugar, The Disco Boys, and Tom Novy. Local acts such as schnick S. & Fernando and Paper Planes will also take the stage. After the open-air concert, the party will move into clubs across Mainz's city centre, extending the celebration late into the night.
Tickets go on sale on March 31 at 12 PM, priced at €29.90 each. The event aims to bring together parents who once attended electronic music events with their children, creating a shared experience. Mainz's cultural commissioner, Ata Delbasteh, called it a 'groundbreaking event concept' for the city. Unlike other family-friendly festivals in Germany—such as Berlin's Lollapalooza with Kidzapalooza, Dortmund's Juicy Beats, or Silobrand near Kassel—this festival focuses specifically on electronic music. No other German city currently offers a similar format tailored to both parents and children within this genre.
The High Root Open Air x Summer in the City festival will run on June 26, 2026, at Mainz's Zitadelle. With a mix of global and local artists, the event hopes to attract a wide audience. Tickets will be available from March 31, offering a new way for families to enjoy electronic music together.
