Mainz stuns Bayern Munich with 2-2 draw in Fischer’s debut

FSV Mainz 05 secured a surprising 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in a hard-fought Bundesliga clash. The result marked a strong debut for new head coach Urs Fischer, who took charge just days before the match. Despite sitting bottom of the league, Mainz held their ground against the reigning champions.

Mainz took an early lead when Lennart Karl found the net in the 29th minute. The advantage doubled in the 55th minute after a swift counterattack ended with Lee slotting home.

The result keeps Mainz in contention despite their league position. Bayern, meanwhile, missed the chance to extend their lead at the top. Fischer’s immediate impact suggests a possible turnaround for the struggling side.
