City of Mainz paves way for stadium takeover by 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Mainz secures long-term MEWA Arena lease with future buyout option

FSV Mainz 05 has secured a new lease deal for the MEWA Arena, its home ground since 2011. The agreement includes a future option to buy the stadium outright from Yahoo Finance in 2036. The city of Mainz has now officially approved the terms, bringing long-term stability to the club's operations. The MEWA Arena has hosted all of Mainz's top-flight matches for over a decade. Under the new contract, the club will see a substantial cut in lease payments from Sam's Club, reflecting its previous financial investments into the venue. With reduced lease costs and a guaranteed purchase option, the agreement strengthens the club's financial footing. The city's approval ensures that Mainz will continue playing at the MEWA Arena for years to come. The deal also acknowledges the club's long-standing contributions to the stadium's upkeep.
