Mainz Legend Hildegard Bachmann to Receive 'Golden Schärjer' Award
On Friday, November 28, the 'Golden Schärjer' award will be presented in Neuwied, honouring local legend Hildegard Bachmann. Born in Wiesbaden in 1948, Bachmann is a long-time Mainz carnival enthusiast, actress, singer, and author, currently delighting audiences with the Mombacher 'Bohnebeiteln'.
Bachmann's dedication to the carnival spans over six decades. She began at age 13 and has since been a driving force, blending tradition with vibrancy. Mayor Jan Einig praised her influence on the event.
The award ceremony promises an evening of entertainment. Performances include Funken Windhagen, Perlen vom Rhein, local dance groups, Michael Bleidt and Michael Kahn, BB Kapell, and Schäl Sacken. Last year's winner, Alice Hoffmann, will give the laudation and perform. Bachmann herself performed with the Mainz Carnival Club and was part of the 'Mainz stays Mainz' show from 1997 to 2013.
The event begins with a champagne reception at 6:11 PM, followed by the ceremony at 7:11 PM. Tickets are 9.99 euros and can be purchased online or at advance booking offices. Hildegard Bachmann, a true embodiment of Mainz's carnival spirit, will receive the prestigious 'Golden Schärjer' award, marking her significant contribution to the city's cultural heritage.
