Mainz suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat against Freiburg in the Bundesliga, extending their winless streak to eight matches. The team’s struggles continued as they failed to score and saw a player sent off early in the game.

Freiburg took the lead in the 12th minute when Lukas Kübler capitalised on a mistake by Mainz goalkeeper Lasse Rieß, who spilled a header. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 26th minute through Vincenzo Grifo, moments before Mainz midfielder Paul Nebel received a red card.
