Mailed election documents distributed inaccurately within Vlotho
In the upcoming municipal elections in the city of Vlotho, an error has been discovered in the mail-in ballots sent to some voters. The affected voters, residing in electoral district 25, which includes the districts of Vlotho, Uffeln, and parts of Exter, have been notified, and new and correct ballots are being promptly sent to their addresses.
Initially, incorrect ballots for electoral district 24 were inadvertently sent instead of electoral district 25. Upon realising the mistake, the election office identified the affected packets and determined that all ballots from these packets, including the Landrat, mayoral, and council ballots, are invalid due to the incorrect Kreistag ballots.
The Kreistag ballots in the original mail-in ballots were incorrectly assigned, which has led to their invalidation. Consequently, the affected voters in electoral district 25 will receive new mail-in ballots for all elections (Landrat, Kreistag, mayoral, and council) with the Kreistag ballots correctly assigned.
The city of Vlotho is currently identifying the specific addresses in electoral district 25 where incorrect ballots were sent. However, these addresses have not been publicly disclosed. The election office has also stated that the incorrect ballots will be declared invalid.
Affected voters are urged to complete and send back the new mail-in ballots to ensure their votes are counted in the upcoming municipal elections, which are scheduled to take place in the near future. The new ballots are expected to reach the identified addresses promptly.
The municipal elections in the district of Herford include ballots for the Landrat election, Kreistag election, mayoral election, and council election. Despite the error in the mail-in ballots for electoral district 25, the elections in the city of Vlotho are expected to proceed as planned, with the exception of the affected voters who will need to submit their corrected ballots.
