Maharashtra's Resident Doctors Elect New 2026-27 Leadership Committee

The Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors (CENTRAL MARD) has unveiled its newly elected committee for the 2026-27 term. The appointments took effect on May 15, 2026, with a focus on improving conditions for resident doctors across the state. The association has pledged to prioritise safety, academic growth, and professional welfare in its upcoming initiatives. Dr. Atharva Shinde from RGMC Thane has been named President of CENTRAL MARD for the 2026-27 period. He described the organisation as the unified voice of every resident doctor in Maharashtra. Alongside him, Dr. Sachin Palwade from Sir JJ Hospital, Mumbai, will serve as General Secretary.

The committee has committed to operating democratically while engaging in constructive discussions with government bodies and medical institutions. Key priorities include enhancing workplace safety, pushing for academic reforms, and ensuring better communication with authorities. Collaboration with the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), and other stakeholders will form a central part of their strategy.

CENTRAL MARD has also expressed gratitude for the support received from resident doctors during the committee’s formation. The association’s broader mission remains the protection of dignity, safety, and professional development for all resident doctors in the state. The newly elected committee will focus on academic, professional, and welfare-related improvements for resident doctors. Their work will involve close coordination with government and educational bodies to strengthen healthcare services. The term officially began on May 15, 2026, with clear objectives for the year ahead.
