Maharashtra Government Imposes Electronic Know Your Customer Verification on Ladki Bahin Grant Recipients
The Maharashtra State Government has made it mandatory for beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme to complete the e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) process. This move is aimed at maintaining transparency in the scheme, ensuring regular benefits to eligible women, and helping the government weed out fake claims.
Launched in July 2024, the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme provides monthly assistance of Rs 1,500 to women aged 21-65 with an annual family income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh. According to government data, 2.25 crore women receive money under this scheme. However, it has been noted that nearly 26.34 lakh ineligible beneficiaries, including men, have enrolled and received the monthly allowance.
To address this issue, the government has introduced the e-KYC facility, which is available on the web portal 'ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in'. The Women and Child Development Minister, Aditi Tatkare, announced the e-KYC facility and urged all eligible women to complete the process.
The deadline for completing the e-KYC process is two months from the date of the Government Resolution. Beneficiaries who fail to complete the process by the deadline may have their benefits withheld. Completing the e-KYC process may also aid beneficiaries in availing benefits of other schemes in the future.
The e-KYC process is designed to verify the identity and eligibility of the beneficiaries. It is intended to maintain transparency in the scheme and ensure that only eligible women receive the benefits. The Maharashtra State Government's designated department is responsible for conducting the e-KYC process for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme.
Beneficiaries are requested to visit the 'ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in' web portal and complete the e-KYC process within the given deadline. It is important to note that yearly verification will also be required for the continuation of benefits under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme.
In conclusion, the e-KYC process for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme is a significant step towards ensuring transparency and eliminating fake claims. All eligible women are urged to complete the e-KYC process by the deadline to continue receiving the benefits under the scheme.
