Mahama's PIAA Initiative Boosts Coconut Farming in Ghana

President John Dramani Mahama's Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness (PIAA) has seen the nationwide distribution of coconut seedlings, commended by the Coordinator for the Coconut Federation in the Oti Region, Husein Ibrahim. The initiative aims to transform Ghana's agricultural sector, with the coconut sector already contributing over $12 million annually.

The first phase of the distribution reached 114 farmers, with the President launching the project by providing three million elite coconut seedlings. The initiative is ambitious, targeting over 20,000 farmers across 11 regions, positioning coconut as a key player in Ghana's agricultural landscape.

The second phase of the distribution benefited 123 farmers, but details about further phases remain unclear, with no information available on who is involved, when, or where the next distributions will take place.

The coconut sector's significant contribution to Ghana's export value highlights the potential of the PIAA initiative. With the first two phases successfully completed, stakeholders eagerly await news on the next steps to continue supporting and expanding the coconut farming community.
