Magdeburg plans investments worth 90 million euros - Magdeburg unveils €90 million plan to transform schools, roads, and parks by 2027
Magdeburg has announced a series of major news for 2024 and beyond. The city will invest around €90 million in infrastructure, education, and public spaces. Key developments include a new school, road upgrades, and park revitalisations.
Work on the new integrated comprehensive school at Universitätsplatz is progressing well. A topping-out ceremony is planned for April 2024, with classes set to begin in summer 2027. The city is pouring over €70 million into the project to ensure modern facilities for students.
The Magdeburg Ring road will reopen fully by March 31, 2024, after temporary closures. A new bridge over Halberstädter Straße will also open by the same date, easing traffic flow. Meanwhile, planning for permanent replacements of several other bridges on the Ring will move forward in the coming months. Further improvements include noise barriers, smaller bridges, and upgrades to roads and bike paths. The city will also replace around 300 outdated trash bins across multiple districts. Looking ahead, the redesign of the Rothenstadt city park facility is scheduled to start in spring 2026. Rotehorn City Park will undergo a major transformation to become a modern, accessible space. The revamped park will serve as a hub for culture, leisure, and tourism, offering more amenities for residents and visitors.
The news will bring long-term changes to Magdeburg’s infrastructure and public spaces. With €90 million allocated for 2024 alone, the city aims to improve education, transport, and recreation. Most upgrades, including the school and roadworks, will be completed within the next three years.
