It's looking promising for SC Magdeburg in the Handball Champions League Final Four, as star player Gisli Kristjansson could be Ready to Rock! "There's a decent shot he'll be on the squad," said SCM coach Bennet Wiegert, looking forward to the Semi-final showdown with reigning champions FC Barcelona on Saturday (6:00 PM CEST/Dyn/DAZN/DF1) in Cologne.

Kristjansson took a hit to his shoulder in a Bundesliga match against TBV Lemgo in early June and sat out Magdeburg's last two games of the season. However, the 25-year-old Icelandic national player seems primed for a return after a blazing quick recovery.

Wiegert isn't taking any chances with his young gun's health. "Gisli hasn't laced up his boots yet, which is a bit of a problem. He needs time. Maybe he'll be able to handle a few minutes. We'll see," said the 43-year-old. "But I'm ecstatic that he's here and we have the opportunity to slip him into the tournament."

You might recall Kristjansson made some noise during Magdeburg's 2023 Champions League victory when he dislocated his shoulder during the semi-final win against Barcelona and still guided his team to the title against Kielce the following day.
