Magadan Oblast celebrates Women's Day with free childcare pledge for families

Magadan Oblast has marked International Women's Day with a series of celebrations across the region. Over the weekend, municipalities hosted events filled with performances, greetings, and special announcements aimed at supporting families.

Festive concerts took place on March 7 at the Magadan Center for Culture and Music and the Magadan Music and Drama Theater. The shows featured lively performances, emotional tributes, and video messages from servicemembers stationed at the front, who sent warm wishes to the women of the region. Attendees included women of all ages, representing different professions and communities in Magadan Oblast.

Governor Sergei Nosov addressed the women of the region, highlighting their essential roles as mothers, grandmothers, and homemakers. He also announced a major policy change: starting March 1, 2026, the regional budget will fully cover childcare costs in kindergartens. The decision aims to ease financial burdens on families, allowing savings to be redirected toward education, healthcare, or leisure activities.

Nosov stressed the importance of open communication, promising quick responses to public feedback on kindergarten standards and services. The initiative reflects the government's focus on children's well-being and family support.

The celebrations combined cultural events with concrete measures to assist families. Free childcare from 2026 will reduce household expenses, while ongoing dialogue ensures parents' concerns are addressed. The region's approach ties festive recognition to long-term support for women and children.
