Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured their spots in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup following two exciting quarter-final matches.

In the first quarter-final, Real Madrid took on Borussia Dortmund at the MetLife Stadium. The Spanish giants started the game strongly, with Gonzalo García scoring the opener in the 10th minute, thanks to an assist from Arda Guler. Fran García doubled Madrid's lead in the 20th minute, and despite a late fightback from Dortmund, Real Madrid held on to their advantage.

Maximilian Beier scored a goal for Dortmund in the 93rd minute, but Kylian Mbappé's spectacular bicycle kick in the 94th minute was not enough for a comeback. Thibaut Courtois made a sensational save to deny Marcel Sabitzer's powerful strike and prevent Dortmund from forcing extra time, securing a 3-2 victory for Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, PSG demonstrated their resilience in a 2-0 win against Bayern Munich. Despite finishing the game with nine players due to two red cards, PSG managed to maintain a clean sheet and book their place in the semi-finals.

The semi-finals will see Real Madrid face PSG in a highly anticipated clash. The winners of this match will go on to face either Fluminense or Chelsea in the final, which is scheduled for Tuesday.

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso acknowledged that his team lost focus and intensity in the last 10 minutes of the match, but overall, they comfortably saw out the game despite the scorching heat. Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. had chances to extend Real Madrid's lead before halftime, but Dortmund's defence held strong.

Serhou Guirassy scored a penalty goal for Dortmund, reducing the deficit to 3-2, but it was not enough to secure a comeback. Dean Huijsen was shown a straight red card for a foul on Guirassy in the box.
