Madrid Metro Line 10 shuts down key stations for major station overhaul
Madrid Metro Line 10 will shut down a key section from this Saturday until the end of the year. The closure affects three stations: Nuevos Ministerios, Santiago Bernabéu, and Cuzco. A free bus service has been introduced to help passengers during the disruption.
The shutdown allows for a major renovation of Santiago Bernabéu station, costing €66 million. The project will expand its floor space from 4,843 to over 12,400 square meters. New features include 12 panoramic lifts and 24 escalators, plus a large central concourse.
To ease travel, a special SE10 bus now connects Plaza de Castilla with Nuevos Ministerios. It runs every two to three minutes on weekdays and every three to eight minutes on weekends. Up to 15 buses operate during peak times. Additional support comes from EMT, which has increased services on bus lines 27 and 147. Metro lines L1 and L9 also offer extended routes. The closed section of Line 10 is set to reopen in early 2027.
The upgrades at Santiago Bernabéu station will significantly expand its capacity and accessibility. Until then, passengers can use the SE10 bus and other enhanced transport options. The full Line 10 service will return in the first quarter of 2027.
