Madonna Resurrects "Veronica Electronica" from the '90s Archive

Madonna Launches New Album Featuring Remixed Tracks - Madonna debuts a new collection of remixed tracks

Madge, the ever-evolving pop queen, is back with a blast from the past. On July 25, we can finally get our hands on "Veronica Electronica" - a remix album of her 1998 megahit, "Ray of Light," available for preorder on her website.

Recall that Madonna, age 66, conceived an eight-track companion album for "Ray of Light" back in '98. But the unprecedented global success of the original - selling over 16 million copies and scoring her four Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Album - stalled the project's release.

An Early '00s Gem

Fast-forward to now, "Veronica Electronica" is seeing the light of day, joining Madonna's "Silver Collection" – a limited series of silver vinyl reissues. Renowned producers like Peter Rauhofer, William Orbit, Sasha, BT, and Victor Calderone, titans of the '90s electronic dance music scene, breathe fresh life into the remixes. An exclusive treat is the demo version of "Gone, Gone, Gone," never-before-heard and now accessible for the first time.

Fun fact: "Electronica" was a nebulous genre back in the late '90s for hard electronic dance music, following in the footsteps of pioneering artists like Prodigy, Moby, Underworld, or Fatboy Slim. In vogue as a successor to the 'Alternative' wave, the trend fizzled out at the turn of the millennium.

A Vinyl Duo

"Veronica Electronica" comprises eight tracks, split across two sides. Side A showcases reissues of "Drowned World/Substitute For Love," "Ray Of Light," "Skin," and "Nothing Really Matters." Side B offers "Sky Fits Heaven," "Frozen," "The Power Of Good-Bye," and the demo of "Gone, Gone, Gone."

Madonna boasts 14 studio albums to her name, with her latest being "Madame X" in 2019. She's also previously released two remix albums: "You Can Dance" in 1987, peaking at number five on the Billboard 200 chart, and "Remixed & Revisited" in 2003, which charted outside the top 200.
