Madison De La Garza's Directorial Debut 'Sara Sarita' Set for Halloween 2026

Madison De La Garza, famed for her roles in 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Bad Teacher', has completed her debut feature film, 'Sara Sarita'. The film, a horror production inspired by Mexican folklore, stars Michael Madsen in one of his final big-screen performances. It is set to debut on Halloween 2026.

The story follows a young woman who uncovers a dark family secret tied to an ancient spirit called Sara Sarita. De La Garza, who is also the younger sister of Demi Lovato, stated that the film is about facing fears and finding oneself, while honouring Mexican folklore and confronting death and grief.

The film was co-directed, written, and produced by Kate Queen, with James Cullen Bressack serving as executive producer. It was produced under Queen Studios and stars Spencer Breslin, Michael Paré, and Kaili Thorne alongside Madsen. Filming took place in Ohio this fall, with the film currently in post-production.

Madsen participated in the shoot just two weeks before his passing, and the film was later resumed in his honour. 'Sara Sarita' is De La Garza's first feature film as a director, and it promises to be a unique blend of horror and cultural exploration, set for release on Halloween 2026.
