Madhya Pradesh High Court Halts Decision Labeling 61 GMC Positions as Unlawful

Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh: High Court Pauses Illegal Posting Order for Gwalior Municipal Corporation Officials

The Gwalior Municipal Corporation (GMC) staff, comprising 61 officers and employees, have temporarily dodged a directive deeming their postings unlawful, following a High Court stay on Tuesday. The hearing for this case has been scheduled for June 23.

Last week, the court had declared these appointments by Justice Ahluwalia as unauthorized, implicating Commissioner Sangh Priy and others. The court's ruling was in response to a writ petition alleging irregularities in the deputation postings, including the appointment of a veterinarian, Dr. Anuj Sharma, as Health Officer without the necessary Medical qualifications.

The High Court also directed authorities to investigate Additional Commissioner Anil Kumar Dubey and take necessary action. However, the case's progress is hampered by the fact that all 61 officials are serving on deputation.

Meanwhile, Dr. Anuj Sharma and Dr. Dinesh Dixit, previously relieved from their duties, will not benefit from the stay. The court's decision underscores the persistent deputation posting issues within the civic body.

Earlier, a dispute had arisen over the appointments, leading the Municipal Corporation and government to appeal before a double bench. As of now, the court has yet to announce a specific next hearing date.
