MadeByMitchell's encounter with Malachi, detailed by the businessman following the viral controversy's aftermath

In a surprising turn of events, the highly anticipated collaboration between MalachiArt and MadeByMitchell, which was announced in 2023, has fallen through. MalachiArt, a TikTok account, won MadeByMitchell's Full Face Of Colour Case competition, promising a life-changing opportunity to collaborate on a full makeup collection.

However, over nearly two years, Malachi experienced stalled communication, lack of contracts or NDAs as promised, poor professional handling, and changing plans from the brand. In a three-part TikTok video series, Malachi detailed every meeting and interaction he had with MadeByMitchell and its founder, Mitchell Halliday.

The collaboration initially seemed promising, with Malachi claiming that Mitchell offered him a partnership that was "financially and socially life-changing". But as time went on, it became clear that other senior members of the MadeByMitchell team had no idea that the collaboration was happening.

Malachi alleges that despite initial meetings, he was eventually ghosted and the collaboration never materialized. He claims he provided concepts, shade names, marketing plans, packaging ideas, and an art book, but the brand shifted plans from a custom collection to a less involved “Malachi Box” bundling existing products, limiting Malachi’s creative input.

Moreover, Malachi claims he was sent contracts with wildly different terms than what was outlined in the competition. He started "working out and losing weight" so that he would "feel comfortable" when they shot campaign images together, only to find that the contracts were not what he had expected.

When the contract finally arrived in May 2025, it did not match the expectations or promises of a life-changing, socially and financially rewarding collaboration, leading Malachi to feel "screwed over". In response, Mitchell Halliday acknowledged his mistakes, apologized to Malachi, and promised to make things right.

Mitchell Halliday later drafted an agreement for Malachi to either accept or turn down. However, Malachi cut off contact with MadeByMitchell on 9 July 2025, citing that the collection was nowhere near what had been promised.

Our brand name has reached out to Mitchell for further comment, but as of now, Mitchell Halliday has not responded. The situation is widely regarded as a cautionary tale about the importance of professionalism, clarity, and respect in influencer-brand collaborations.
