Macques' Lawsuit Addresses by Candace Owens

In a dramatic turn of events, American commentator Candace Owens has found herself at the centre of a defamation lawsuit filed by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte. The lawsuit, announced by Attorney Tom Clare on July 23, 2021, includes 22 counts against Owens, including defamation and false light.

Owens, who has a company incorporated in Delaware, responded to the lawsuit on her podcast, stating that she is 'fully prepared to take on this battle on behalf of the entire world.' She described the lawsuit as an 'obvious and desperate public relations strategy.'

The lawsuit states that Owens' claims about Brigitte Macron being a man have caused 'relentless bullying on a worldwide scale' and 'tremendous damage' to the Macrons. These claims originated from a four-hour-long YouTube video by Amandine Roy, a self-described spiritual medium, and Natacha Rey, a self-described independent journalist.

Despite the lawsuit, Owens has shown no signs of backing down. She has repeatedly called on Brigitte Macron to provide blood samples and childhood pictures. In response to the lawsuit, Owens said, 'I'd like to make it to discovery, I think we owe that to the world.'

The Macrons are willing to travel to Delaware to appear in person at any trial. The court has requested a jury trial, and the original ruling, which ordered the women to pay damages, was overturned this month by the Paris Court of Appeals. Brigitte Macron has further appealed this decision to France's highest appeals court.

Owens' past actions have been marked by controversial statements on various topics, including transgender issues. In 2024, she was denied a visa to Australia following remarks that minimized the Holocaust and controversial claims about Islam and slavery. She was also denied entry into New Zealand.

As of September 21, 2025, there is no publicly available information on the exact date of the court hearing for the defamation case between Candace Owens and the Macrons. Both parties have been reached out to for comment via email, but no response has been received as of yet.

Disinformation about Brigitte Macron's gender has circulated on social media for years, and this lawsuit marks a significant step in addressing such misinformation. The outcome of this case is eagerly awaited by many, as it could set a precedent for similar cases in the future.
