In a humorous turn of events, Macauley Culkin, the iconic child actor known for his role as Kevin McCallister in the "Home Alone" series, has revealed some intriguing details about his financial compensation for the films.

During an appearance on the show Hot Ones, Culkin shared that he received a significant boost in his salary for the sequel, "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York." While exact figures vary, it is reported that his salary jumped from approximately $110,000 for the original film to around $4.5 million for the sequel.

But that's not all. Culkin also reportedly owns around 5% of the net profits and a staggering 15% of merchandising rights for "Home Alone 2." This merchandising stake, particularly from popular items like the Talkboy toy, has earned him tens of millions more. Estimates suggest his total earnings from the sequel, including merchandising, could be as high as $207 million, given the movie’s massive commercial success and merchandise sales.

Culkin's preference for "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" over the original is not based on the quality of the film but rather the financial compensation he received. This significant increase in pay and subsequent profit and merchandising shares was career-defining and set a precedent for young actors in franchise films.

These days, Culkin rarely acts in films. However, he has recently appeared in the tenth season of "American Horror Story" (2021) and voiced a character in the animated comedy Entergalactic (2022). Last Christmas, Culkin even bought a Talkboy for himself, a significant prop from the "Home Alone" series.

It's worth noting that Culkin's comments about receiving a percentage of the sales might have been made in jest. The information about his recent work was reported by an unspecified source, while the statement about his dedication to family, home, and children was not directly sourced.
