Xia Baolong, the man in charge of Beijing's dealings with Macau, has taken off on a six-day exploration of the city, praising the "solid start" made by the new administration. Kicking things off on May 8th and running until May 13th, Xia's visit centers around assessing Macau's latest social and economic developments, and scrutinizing the progress of the new Special Administrative Region (SAR) government led by Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai, who took office in December 2024.

According to available information, Xia's primary objectives during his visit are threefold:

  1. Evaluating Social and Economic Progress: He aims to comprehend the recent advancements and issues encountered by Macau in the realm of society and economy.
  2. Examining Government Performance: Xia plans to appraise the new government's endeavors to align with central government policies.

Xia last dropped by Macau in May 2024 for a week-long tour. His latest inspection trip, which marks his first visit since Sam assumed office in December 2024, showcases his continuous dedication to guiding and supporting Macau's development.
