Horror fans, gear up! We're mere weeks away from the return of our favorite homicidal doll on the silver screen, but in the meantime, Universal Pictures has dropped a final taste of M3GAN 2.0 for us. The trailer begins with M3GAN attempting to apologize for her reign of terror in the first movie, but what do you know, old habits are hard to shake off. As the trailer progresses, M3GAN reverts to her killing ways, this time battling for the good guys against a formidable new threat: Amelia, a Russian murder bot that's practically a female Terminator. "Amelia is stronger than you can fathom," warns M3GAN, "and she's coming after anyone who can stop her... even you, Gemma."
The clip offers some fresh footage, including M3GAN stealing a pop star's identity, Cady being kidnapped by Amelia, and Gemma strapping into a robot suit controlled by M3GAN. You can also expect some hilarious one-liners and meme-worthy scenes that are sure to take social media by storm.
Written and directed by Gerard Johnstone, M3GAN 2.0 takes place two years after M3GAN went rogue in the 2022 film, forcing Gemma (Allison Williams) to destroy her creation. Fast forward to the sequel, and Gemma is now a successful author and advocate for government oversight of AI, all while tending to her rebellious teenage niece, Cady (Violet McGraw).
But their tranquil lives are about to turn chaotic, as the tech for M3GAN has been stolen and used to create Amelia, a military-grade weapon. When Amelia decides to revolt against her human creators, including Gemma, the roboticist realizes that the only option is to resurrect M3GAN, armed with enhancements that make her more formidable than ever.
M3GAN 2.0 features returning cast members Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps, as well as newcomers Aristotle Athari, Timm Sharp, and Jemaine Clement.
