Luxury Developer, Prestige Group, Unveils Plans for 1.5 Kilometer Private Overpass in Bengaluru
In a significant move to improve traffic management and promote sustainable urban mobility, the Prestige Group has received final approval from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to construct a 1.5-kilometer flyover connecting its tech park in Bellandur to the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The project is expected to be completed by early 2027.
Located in a busy traffic zone and home to numerous global tech companies and IT parks, the flyover aims to alleviate traffic congestion significantly. It will provide exclusive access for those entering or exiting the Prestige Tech Park, easing the burden on public roads, particularly during peak commute hours.
Key beneficiaries of the flyover are expected to be tech professionals working in ORR-based campuses like Prestige Tech Park, Ecospace, and Cessna Business Park. By reducing travel distances and easing congestion on major routes like Old Airport Road and Kariyammana Agrahara Road, the flyover will provide significant benefits to over 300,000 tech professionals who travel through this zone daily.
The flyover represents a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the private sector and civic authorities in Bengaluru's infrastructure space. Prestige Group is working with leading contractors and urban planners to ensure the project moves quickly and causes minimal disruption during construction.
Although the project is initiated by Prestige Group, the flyover will be open to the public, not just tech park users. It will include pedestrian paths and lighting, and the group will also widen Kariyammana Agrahara Road as part of the deal.
By proactively addressing mobility bottlenecks, Prestige Group has taken a bold step in improving the livability and operational efficiency of Bengaluru's tech corridor. Residential commuters from areas such as HSR Layout, Sarjapur Road, Marathahalli, and Whitefield are also expected to benefit from the flyover.
The estimated timeline for the project is Q3 2025 for groundbreaking and construction commencement, Q1 2026 for partial operational readiness, and mid-2026 for full-scale completion and public use. Strategically designed to elevate vehicle movement over congested intersections, the flyover is expected to bring relief to thousands of daily commuters on the ORR, particularly between Marathahalli and Bellandur.
The proposed flyover will span approximately 1.5 km in length and connect major junctions near Prestige's Tech Park campus. This initiative could set a precedent for other corporate campuses in India's metro cities where traffic infrastructure has not kept pace with commercial growth.
By funding, constructing, and maintaining the flyover, Prestige Group demonstrates its commitment to sustainable urban mobility solutions and corporate social responsibility. With strategic planning, private initiative, and civic cooperation, urban congestion can be managed - and perhaps, one day, eliminated.
- The accessed flyover, open to both tech park users and public, will cater to sports enthusiasts and travellers, providing a swift route from the Prestige Tech Park to the Outer Ring Road, reducing travel distances for over 300,000 tech professionals and residential commuters from areas like HSR Layout, Sarjapur Road, Marathahalli, and Whitefield.
- As the proposed flyover, located near significant sports hubs such as the newly built Kanteerva Stadium and the existing Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, comes to fruition, it is anticipated that business travellers and sports fans will find it convenient to move swiftly between these popular venues and the ORR, thereby benefiting from improved mobility in Bengaluru's tech corridor.
