Lulu Sun Storms into Guangzhou Open Final, to Face Ann Li
New Zealand's top tennis player, Lulu Sun, has stormed into the final of the Guangzhou Open. She overpowered American Claire Liu 6-0, 6-0 in the semi-finals, displaying impressive form.
Sun began her campaign against Liu with a bang, breaking her early and converting three break points to clinch the first watch 6-0. Liu put up more of a fight in the second set, but Sun held her nerve and won the tiebreaker to secure her place in the final.
Sun's journey to the final was aided by her opponent in the semi-finals, Shuai Zhang, retiring at 2-5 in the first watch. This allowed Sun to progress with minimal resistance. Sun's recent form has been remarkable, seeing her ranking climb from 164 in late August to her current position of 116. This is her second career WTA final, having previously reached the final in Monterrey, Mexico, last year.
Sun will now face Ann Li, the second seed and world number 44, in the final of the Guangzhou Open. Li is a formidable opponent, known for her international prowess. Sun's strong performance so far indicates she is ready for the challenge, aiming to secure her first WTA title.
