If you religiously followed the silver screen, there's no dodging the fact that Mark Hamill (73) left an indelible mark on millions of hearts with his portrayal of the legendary Luke Skywalker in the good old days of "Star Wars." Alongside the late luminaries Carrie Fisher (1956-2016 - Princess Leia) and Harrison Ford (82 - Han Solo), Hamill earned the title of cinematic royalty. Now, it seems he's all set to abandon his prized Star Wars universe.

Hamill Waves the White Flag for "Star Wars"

In an exclusive tete-a-tete with "Comicbook.com," the revered US actor, who's also admired for his voice antics as the sinister Joker in the "Batman" animated series, speaks his mind: "I'm just so damn grateful to have been part of it back when George [Lucas] called 'Star Wars' the most expensive low-budget film ever made," he says, waxing nostalgic.

"The lot of us didn't have a clue it would grow into a permanent franchise and become a cornerstone of pop culture," Hamill reminisces. "But I've had my time," he coolly concludes. "I appreciate it, but I reckon they should focus on the future and all these new characters."

Despite retiring from "Star Wars," Humdrum Hamill can't resist cracking a wise one: "Oh, and by the way, when I vanished in ['Star Wars: The Last Jedi'], I left my robe behind. And I've no intention of returning in a floating, translucent skin condition."

Behind the Scenes:

While Hamill may be logging out of "Star Wars," he's still as obsessed with the series as ever. Despite not wanting to return as Luke, he admits to leaving his robe behind intentionally, mocking the idea of a "naked Force ghost." Hamill firmly believes that the franchise should move past legend characters and concentrate on creating new stories. However, he acknowledges the historical significance and cultural impact of the Star Wars series, emphasizing the need to focus on the future rather than holding onto the past. With Hamill's decision to exit the series, doors open for new characters to take the spotlight, such as the upcoming Rey-led film destined to breathe life into a revived Jedi Order.

  1. "I'm not going to tell you what I'm gonna do, but after years of being a part of the 'Star Wars' universe, Mark Hamill suggests that it's time for the franchise to focus on the future and new characters, rather than relying on legend characters like Luke Skywalker."
  2. "Mark Hamill, the actor known for his iconic role as Luke Skywalker, may have bid adieu to the 'Star Wars' universe, but he couldn't resist a bit of humor, joking about leaving his robe behind and denying any plans to return in a floating, translucent form, suggesting a shift in focus from the past to the future of the 'movies-and-tv' entertainment industry and its celebrity figures."
