Luke Macfarlane Joins *Shifting Gears* as Navy Hero Sam Parker in Season 2
Luke Macfarlane is joining the cast of Shifting Gears as Sam Parker, a Navy hero and the long-awaited son of Matt Allen. The ABC comedy, which follows a widowed car restorer and his estranged daughter, will introduce the character in its second season. Macfarlane’s first appearance is set for December, with the show airing Wednesdays at 8PM on ABC and streaming the next day on Hulu.
The character of Sam Parker had been mentioned in Shifting Gears but never seen on screen. Executive producer and showrunner Michelle Nader previously teased his arrival in Season 2. Now, Macfarlane will guest star as Matt’s son and Riley’s brother, played by Kat Dennings.
Macfarlane’s casting as Sam Parker brings a new dynamic to the Allen family in Shifting Gears. The character’s Navy background and connection to the main cast will unfold in episodes airing this December. Fans can watch the series weekly on ABC or stream it the following day on Hulu.
