Luke Lamperti seizes yellow jersey at Paris-Nice with EF Education-EasyPost
Luke Lamperti has taken the yellow leader's jersey at Paris-Nice while racing for EF Education-EasyPost. The 23-year-old American has already made his mark this season with a WorldTour victory in the Yvelines, securing his team's first win of 2026. His rise continues after a string of strong results in Belgian classics and beyond.
Lamperti's path to the top has been rapid. In the past year alone, he claimed the Trofeo Ses Saludes and Gran Premio Miguel Induráin, alongside two WorldTour wins: Paris-Nice 2025 and the Clàssica Jaume Copons-Coll de Rates. Earlier in his career, he also took a criterium in Australia and a stage at Tour de la Provence, bringing his total career wins to seven.
His strengths lie in sprints after tough efforts or on rolling terrain, as shown in races like the Tour of Oman and Paris-Nice. A former motocross rider, he is known for sharp bike handling and an instinctive ability to read the peloton. EF Education-EasyPost manager Charles Wegelius has noted his maturity, saying he races with the confidence of someone far more experienced.
Before joining EF Education-EasyPost, Lamperti turned down an offer from Soudal-Quick Step. He chose the American team for greater opportunities, reuniting with former Trinity Racing teammates Max Walker and Lukas Nerurkar. His self-belief and leadership have already set him apart at just 23.
Lamperti now leads Paris-Nice while building on a season of consistent success. His sprinting talent, tactical awareness, and early WorldTour victories mark him as a rider to watch. The coming months will show how far his ambition and skill can take him.
