Luke Humphries, current US Masters champion, is scheduled for an X-ray due to an incident involving a spectator, apparently causing him injury during his victory celebration.

Let's Dish the Details on Luke "Cool Hand" Humphries' US Masters Victory

Luke Humphries couldn't have nailed it better with his 'no pain, no gain' attitude.

Humphries snagged the US Masters title with an 8-6 win over Nathan Aspinall in the final, but he's got an X-ray to look forward to upon his return home due to a swollen thumb.

The 2024 world champion sustained the injury during his walk-on ahead of his first round victory over Stowe Buntz when a fan grabbed his thumb and yanked it back. Despite the pain, Humphries played through the discomfort for the remainder of the tournament.

"My thumb is like a balloon," Humphries frankly admitted.

"It was tough to handle. I had a hard time gripping my darts and keeping my thumb steady.

"I didn't want to make a fuss about it. The guy who pulled my hand back really gave it a good yank.

"I'm going to need to head back home for a check-up. I don't think it's fractured as I can still squeeze it.

"It's far from perfect, it's utterly swollen. I promised my family I'd give it my all, even if it meant injuring my hand.

"I didn't play at my best, but I managed to win."

Humphries' triumph was his second victory in his career on the World Series and in 2025. After his opening win over Buntz, Humphries eased to a 6-2 win in the quarter-finals over Danny Lauby, who eliminated defending US Masters champ Rob Cross in the first round with a shocking 6-0 whitewash.

'Cool Hand' continued his dominance with a 7-2 triumph over Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals and capped off an epic weekend in the Big Apple with victory over close buddy Aspinall.

For Humphries, being the last man standing at the iconic Madison Square Garden was a dream come true. His parents may have played a part in his victory as well, as his win in New York City continued a remarkable trend of never losing when they attended his matches this year.

"This trophy means the world to me on the World Series," Humphries said.

"Playing at this incredible venue is a dream come true. When I first came here two years ago, I always fantasized about winning this one.

"It's a once-in-a-lifetime feeling and my parents were by my side, so it made it even more special.

"They said earlier, 'We don't want to jinx you', but they've been to every tournament I've won this year. They've never seen me lose."

Perhaps Humphries will need to invite his parents to next year's tournament, especially if he gets his wish of having the US Masters played in the actual Madison Square Garden rather than The Theater.

"We want the big arena, we're so fortunate to have The Theater," Humphries shared.

"But we'd love to have it in the main arena. We need the support of the American fans to make that happen.

"Being part of a crowd like at a New York Rangers game would be amazing."

Despite his swollen thumb, Luke Humphries successfully bet on sports by winning the US Masters title.

With his parents' supportive presence, Humphries' vision of playing and winning in the iconic Madison Square Garden has become a reality in 2025.
