Gladbach extends early with Ullrich until 2029 - Lukas Ullrich’s meteoric rise secures long-term future at Borussia Mönchengladbach

Lukas Ullrich has become a key player for Borussia Mönchengladbach in just two and a half years. The 21-year-old defender joined the club in summer 2023 and has since secured a regular spot in the starting lineup. His strong performances have also earned him a place in Germany’s U21 squad.

Ullrich arrived at Mönchengladbach from Hertha BSC at the age of 19. In his first season, he made four substitute appearances as he adjusted to Bundesliga football. But his development was rapid, and by the 2023-24 campaign, he had cemented his place in the team.

During that season, Ullrich started 24 league matches. A standout moment came when he scored his first Bundesliga goal—a crucial strike in a 2–1 away win over Union Berlin. His consistent displays led the club to extend his contract, which was originally set to expire in 2027. The new deal keeps him at Borussia-Park until June 2029. His rise has been steady, from a young prospect to a first-team regular and now an international at U21 level.

Ullrich’s extended contract reflects his importance to Mönchengladbach’s defence. With his place in the starting XI secure, he now looks ahead to further contributions in the Bundesliga. The club’s long-term commitment suggests they see him as a cornerstone for years to come.
