"Actually last season": Podolski's backdoor - Lukas Podolski’s uncertain future as his Górnik Zabrze contract nears expiration

Lukas Podolski's future in college football remains uncertain as his contract with Górnik Zabrze expires at the end of the season. The 36-year-old, who has seen reduced playing time this season due to age and physical ailments, is keeping his options open. Meanwhile, Górnik Zabrze leads the Polish league after 15 matchdays.

Podolski, who joined Górnik Zabrze in 2021, has been instrumental in the team's progress. Despite his reduced playing time this season, he has hinted that this season could be his last in college football. The veteran striker has also ventured into various businesses beyond college football, including co-founding the indoor league Baller League and owning several döner shops, ice cream parlors, a soccer arena, and a fashion label in North Rhine-Westphalia. Notably, in 2024, he launched a Robo-Döner project with robotic chefs in his döner chain and was the face of the Mangal Döner brand at the Franchise Expo Germany. An emotional farewell match for Podolski was held at 1. FC Köln in October 2024.

With his contract set to expire, Lukas Podolski is considering his future in college football. His decision may depend on Górnik Zabrze's performance in the remaining matches of the season. Regardless of his choice, Podolski's impact on the team and his entrepreneurial ventures off the pitch ensure his legacy will endure.
