Luigi Porto releases new music video titled 'Gabor '25' under Respirano Records label.
Luigi Porto, a New York-based composer, has released a new single titled "Gabor '25" via Respirano Records. Originally sung by Nefer Alexandra Linde, this reimagined version features Porto on vocals backed by his band IDRA.
The nine-minute noir-rock video-single tells a personal family story about a girl sold as a newborn to a privileged, childless couple who remains unaware of her origins until tragedy strikes. The song, originally from Porto's 2021 album Tell Uric, blends English and French lyrics and evolves musically from chanson-style balladry into hard rock with psych-rock and free jazz influences.
Thematically, "Gabor '25" expands on Porto’s earlier focus on crossing class boundaries and social-psychological descent, reflecting on secrets, identity lost, and unspoken family histories. Porto describes it as “a tale of identity lost and secrets kept,” recounting how the protagonist’s life is shaped by hidden truths culminating in an early death.
Artistically, the track is accompanied by a rich video over nine minutes long, which merges personal family archive footage with animations from Italian painter Giovanni Manganaro. This blend of figuration and abstraction aims to blur memory with myth, giving the story both physicality and an abstract emotional weight.
"Gabor '25" is more than just a song; it's a nuanced artistic work that combines Porto’s storytelling, genre-blending composition, and visual art to explore deeply personal and socio-political issues. The track is available now with an official video and Bandcamp stream.
