Lufthansa Technik hits 1,000th Pratt & Whitney GTF engine overhaul milestone
Lufthansa Technik has reached a significant milestone by completing the thousandth overhaul of a Pratt & Whitney GTF engine. The work was carried out across its global network, including key sites in Poland, Germany, North America, and China. The company has not disclosed the exact total number of engines serviced so far beyond this figure.
The primary location for these overhauls is EME Aero, a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and MTU Aero Engines. Based in Jasionka near Rzeszów, Poland, the facility employs over 1,200 people. Its role has been central in handling the growing demand for GTF engine maintenance.
The site has ambitious plans to expand its operations further. By 2028, EME Aero aims to increase its annual capacity to more than 500 engine overhauls. This growth reflects the rising need for efficient and high-quality maintenance in the aviation sector.
While the thousandth overhaul marks a significant achievement, the company has not provided details on the overall number of GTF engines serviced across its entire maintenance network. The work continues to support airlines relying on these advanced engines for their fleets.
The completion of the thousandth overhaul highlights Lufthansa Technik's expanding role in engine maintenance. EME Aero's planned capacity increase will further strengthen its position as a key service provider. The milestone also underscores the growing importance of GTF engines in modern aviation.
