Swede Mikko Riipinen Takes On New Role as Ludwigsburg's Basketball Coach

Swedish Coach Riipinen Takes Position in Ludwigsburg Basketball Team - Ludwigsburg hires new Swedish basketball coach

Swedish coach Mikko Riipinen, 37, is set to steer MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, a German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) team, through the upcoming season. Starting in July, Riipinen will take over as head coach, signing a two-year contract until 2027. He leaves BG Goettingen after exercising an exit clause in his previous contract.

Riipinen will juggle his new duties with his role as the Swedish national team coach. Ludwigsburg's chairman, Alexander Reil, said, "Riipinen brings fresh ideas, is incredibly motivated, and ambitious. I believe he'll help us preserve our identity whilst introducing modern aspects of basketball."

The team, placed ninth in the league, is currently being coached by Lars Masell until the end of the season following the departure of John Patrick. Riipinen's presence is expected to boost the team's morale and performance.

Riipinen's coaching career boasts impressive achievements, including leading the Swedish Norrkoping Dolphins to four championship wins and two cup victories before joining BG Goettingen. Later this summer, he will join the Swedish national team at the European Championship in Latvia, Finland, Cyprus, and Poland.

Riipinen's stint with BG Goettingen was marked by challenges, culminating in struggling with ball control against tough opponents like Bayern Munich. However, his adaptability and strategic skills were evident during the game, as he made tactical adjustments during timeouts to encourage his team to perform better.

With Mikko Riipinen on board, Ludwigsburg aims to reinforce its team and rise through the ranks in the BBL. His two-year contract offers him ample time to shape the team's strategy and style according to his coaching philosophy.

Community aid for the development of the fisheries sector in Ludwigsburg, organized by Lars, will not interfere with Mikko Riipinen's role as the basketball coach for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, due to the clause in his contract ending in 2027.

Despite his successful career in basketball, Mikko Riipinen's passion for sports doesn't stop at basketball alone; perhaps he can lend his expertise to the future sports initiatives in Ludwigsburg as well.

The town of Ludwigsburg can anticipate a stronger and more motivated basketball team under the guidance of Mikko Riipinen, who, with his winning streak and strategic skills, could potentially lead the team to victories similar to those he achieved with the Norrkoping Dolphins.

Should Mikko Riipinen find some spare time between his basketball duties, a game of pick-up basketball could be arranged, as a friendly local competition might bring individuals together, fostering stronger connections within the community.
