Lucky Iris unveils their fresh track titled 'i just want to dance' through Launchpad+ and EMI North.
Lucky Iris, a synthpop duo from Leeds, has been making waves in the UK's music industry since their formation during the 2020 lockdown. The band, comprised of Maeve Florsheim (vocals and lyrics) and Jasper Exley (music and production), has been creating a unique blend of crunchy electronic pop with catchy hooks, covering themes from love and friendship to everyday topics like coffee and football.
Their career progression over the years shows a steady growth, beginning with their debut 2020 EP, "Turns Out We Should Have Stayed At Home". This was followed by a series of EPs and singles, including "maybe i’m too much" (2023), "something to believe in" (2024), "day to night" (2025), "Neon Crush" (2025), and a number of singles such as "love songs" (2022), "give me something to believe in" (2024), "universal" (2024), "i guess i like you (a lot)" (2024), and "10,000 Hours (Lucky Iris Rework)" (2024).
Their most recent single, "i just want to dance", was released via Launchpad+ in partnership with EMI North in 2025. The single was mixed by Richard Wilkinson, a renowned mixer who has worked with artists like Adele and Kaiser Chiefs. Vocalist Maeve comments that the clubby elements of the new single remind her of her first taste of freedom and the rush of going out.
Lucky Iris started live performances in 2021, and their evolving discography indicates they have maintained consistent activity with increasing recognition in the UK electropop scene. Despite not yet announcing a full album release, their upcoming mixtape is expected to include "i just want to dance".
The duo's 2023 EP, "maybe i’m too much", was when their potential started being noticed. They have since partnered with EMI North to release some of their singles, demonstrating their growing influence in the industry. As they continue to push boundaries with their music, Lucky Iris is undoubtedly a band to watch in the UK's electropop scene.
