Lucid Unveils its Powerhouse: Gravity Electric SUV
American electric vehicle company, Lucid Motors, has made a splash at the L.A. Auto Show 2023, showcasing its latest creation - the Gravity electric SUV. With a promise of a range exceeding 700 kilometers, the Gravity serves as a strong competitor to Tesla's electric vehicle lineup.
Taking inspiration from its Air electric saloon, available in Germany, the Gravity offers a hatchback design with a spacious trunk that extends over 3100 liters. This change in design creates ample legroom for three rows of seats, accommodating up to seven full-size adults.
The Gravity strays slightly from the Air, as the roof plateau now ends in a hatchback tailgate, accentuating its station wagon character. The front of the electric SUV boasts a narrow headlight unit stretching across the entire width, while the door handles are seamlessly integrated with the body panel.
Navigating through the Gravity's cockpit, you'll find a curved 34-inch OLED display and a 12.6-inch central touchscreen serving as the primary control and display units. The interior is largely devoid of switches and buttons, emphasizing the integration of smart technologies.
When it comes to performance, Lucid promises a 900-volt architecture and enough power to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.5 seconds. The 123 kWh battery pack is expected to provide up to 450 miles on a single charge, according to EPA estimates.
Lucid promises efficient charging, offering up to 200 miles of driving range within 12 minutes when using 1000V charging equipment. Sustained speeds of up to 225 kW at 500V architecture fast chargers are also possible.
