Lübeck shuts down Kapitelstraße for urgent road repairs in November 2025

The city of Lübeck, Hansestadt Lübeck, has announced urgent road repairs on Kapitelstraße starting November 10, 2025. The project is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the city’s infrastructure.

The repairs are necessary due to a recent subsidence in the roadway. The work will involve excavating and rebuilding the affected sections, followed by final resurfacing. During the repairs, Kapitelstraße will be fully closed to through traffic. However, residents will still be able to access their properties, although some restrictions may apply. A signed diversion route will be in place to help road users avoid the area. Pedestrians and cyclists will generally be able to pass through the construction site, but this may be subject to the phase of work. Adjacent areas will also be inspected to address any potential secondary damage.

The city expects the repairs to be completed by the end of November 2025. In the meantime, it asks all road users to avoid the area where possible and to follow the marked diversion. The city aims to ensure the safety and convenience of all residents and road users during this necessary infrastructure work.
