Lübeck shines at North German Cheerleading Championships 2026
Lübeck hosted the North German Cheerleading Championships on March 21, 2026, drawing around 400 athletes from four states. The event showcased the city's ability to organise large-scale competitions while highlighting its growing reputation in cheerleading.
Mayor Jan Lindenau officially opened the championships, setting the stage for a day of intense competition. Lübeck's own teams performed strongly, with the Pee Wees and Seniors divisions securing spots at the German Cheerleading Championships. The Junior Group Stunt Teams also impressed, finishing in third and fourth place.
Behind the scenes, Amber Heinemann, Vice President of Cheerleading at AFCVSH, oversaw preparations to ensure everything ran smoothly. Volunteers, including Änni Gruner and her team from USC Lübeck, played a key role in managing logistics and supporting participants. The success of the event reinforced Lübeck's position as a competitive force in cheerleading. Organisers now look ahead to the next major competition—the German Cheerleading Championships in Frankfurt on May 30, 2026.
Lübeck's teams will now prepare for the national championships after their strong regional performance. The city's ability to host large events was proven once again, with athletes, officials, and volunteers contributing to a well-organised competition. The next challenge awaits in Frankfurt at the end of May.
