LSU Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier Set to Start Against Southeastern Louisiana

LSU football coach Brian Kelly has announced that Garrett Nussmeier will start as quarterback for the Tigers against Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday. This announcement comes as Nussmeier has made progress in his mobility after being bothered by a torso injury.

Nussmeier, a fifth-year senior, has been a standout player for the Tigers, leading the team in the previous season. He wears jersey number 18 and is considered one of the top quarterbacks nationally. So far this season, he has completed 65.1% of his passes for 689 yards, with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Despite his impressive performances, Nussmeier has had nine incompletions on passes 20-plus yards in the air. However, he has also managed to complete four such passes, demonstrating his ability to make crucial long-range throws.

The torso injury had slowed down Nussmeier and the development of the LSU offense, according to Brian Kelly. But this week is an opportunity for Nussmeier to showcase his skills once again. Kelly stated that he is excited about what Nussmeier could do this weekend.

The injury for Nussmeier was likely a result of the amount of throwing he did during preseason training. He was placed on a load management program during fall camp due to discomfort. But now, Nussmeier is doing things in practice he hasn't done in the last month, according to Kelly.

The LSU Tigers are currently ranked No. 3 in the NCAA. They will play Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday as a final tuneup for the lagging offense and Nussmeier. This game will be a crucial test for the team, as they prepare for their next match against No. 13 Ole Miss on Oct. 4.

Nussmeier is projected to be a first-round draft pick in 2026. He has already proven his worth on the field, and this weekend's game against Southeastern Louisiana could further solidify his position as one of the top quarterbacks in the nation.

The LSU Tigers will play Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday. Fans are eagerly anticipating Nussmeier's return to the field, and they are confident that he will lead the team to victory. With his exceptional skills and determination, there's no doubt that Nussmeier is ready to take on the challenge.
