Alternative Topping Ideas

If you'd like to mix things up, consider these low-carb topping options:

  1. Cheese: Shredded or cubed cheese like cheddar, pepper jack, gouda, Swiss, or American. Opt for dairy-free alternatives like vegan cheese.
  2. Pickles: Dill or bread and butter pickles. Look for something with a lot of crunch.
  3. Onions: Raw red onions, green onions, or grilled onions for a milder flavor.
  4. Special Sauce: Light mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, ketchup, mustard, relish, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Use skinny ranch, Thousand Island, or blue cheese dressing.
  5. Bacon or Turkey Bacon: Add crispy bacon or turkey bacon for a smoky flavor.
  6. Lettuce or Other Greens: Use iceberg, romaine, or arugula as a crunchy base.
  7. Guacamole: Make a quick guacamole with avocados, lime juice, garlic, and salt.
  8. Barbecue Sauce: Use a sugar-free barbecue sauce for a tangy flavor.
  9. Pickled Onions: Add some pickled onions for a tangy and crunchy topping.
  10. Toasted Croutons: Make toasted croutons using Brioche or burger buns, but be mindful of the carb content if you're strictly low-carb.
  11. Crispy Mushrooms: Sautéed mushrooms can add a meaty texture and flavor.
  12. Hot Sauce: Add a spicy kick with your favorite hot sauce.
  13. Roasted Veggies: Roasted sweet potatoes, cauliflower, or broccoli can add nutrition and flavor.
