Louisville-area Mayoral Roundtable Luncheon Scheduled for July 22, Featuring Mayors Washington, Abuchon, and Haas
On Tuesday, July 22, 2020, the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce (NKY Chamber) will be hosting a Government Forum luncheon at the Radisson Hotel Cincinnati Riverfront in Covington. This event, scheduled from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., brings together regional municipal leaders for a discussion on the future plans, development, and progress of Northern Kentucky.
The key topics of the forum will centre around regional collaboration among Northern Kentucky cities to address workforce development and housing challenges. The panel includes Mayors Eric Haas from Fort Thomas, Julie Metzger Aubuchon from Florence, and Ron Washington from Covington, who will discuss policies supporting communities across the region while respecting each city's unique character.
Each community in Northern Kentucky boasts its own distinct character. Fort Thomas, with its rich history and picturesque downtown, is home to a vibrant arts scene and highly ranked schools. Florence, known for its shopping and dining destinations, offers a thriving business environment and a family-friendly atmosphere. Covington, a city undergoing a significant revitalisation, is attracting new residents and businesses with its unique blend of historic architecture and modern amenities.
A major focus of the discussion will be the urgent need for approximately 3,000 new workforce housing units to meet the demand for households earning $15 to $25 per hour. Housing costs for these units are expected to range from $500 to $1,500 per month. The panel will emphasise the importance of regional cooperation in tackling these complex issues effectively.
Attendees of the Government Forum will gain insight into how city leaders foster innovation and support business growth. Registration for the event can be done on the NKY Chamber's website. Tickets for NKY Chamber members are $35, for future members $45, and for NKYP participants $30. Registration is free with an NKYP Event Pass.
By coming together in a united fashion, the leaders of Northern Kentucky's cities aim to create a brighter future for the region. This event provides a unique opportunity for attendees to hear directly from these municipal leaders and contribute to the ongoing conversation about the future of Northern Kentucky.
