In the August 2025 issue of woman&home magazine, the release of Louise Candlish's latest book was announced. The author, who celebrated 20 years as a writer last year, has penned 18 books, including her well-known novel "Our House" and the critically acclaimed "The Heights" and "A Neighbour's Guide To Murder."

Candlish's new book, a slow-burn thriller, is available now. According to the magazine, it is a mix of Notes on a Scandal and Indecent Proposal. The story revolves around Gen Zer Pixie's rental arrangements and the suspicion they stir in her older neighbor Gwen.

The book is narrated by Gwen, who narrates the consequences of Pixie's actions with chilling wryness. The story's glamorous settings and intricate plot twists are reminiscent of Candlish's earlier works, which have earned her numerous awards, critical acclaim, and over a quarter of a million copies sold.

Candlish's love for storytelling began in her childhood, when she spent her summer grounded reading all of Agatha Christie's novels. "Evil Under the Sun" particularly stood out to her for its captivating settings. She also found inspiration in Ladybird's illustrated fairy tales and George Orwell's "1984." Candlish and her friends used Newspeak from "1984" to refer to things they liked, calling them "doubleplusgood."

Intriguingly, Candlish's childhood behavior of scratching out the faces of the villains in the pictures of her fairy tales was later suggested by a psychologist to indicate an unusually well-developed sense of justice in an infant. This early fascination with storytelling and justice has undoubtedly played a role in her successful career as a bestselling author.
