Loud blasts reported in temporarily controlled Crimea, leading to the shutdown of the Crimean Bridge for vehicular traffic.

On the night of 1-2 August 2025, a series of explosions were heard in several cities in temporarily occupied Crimea. The explosions, accompanied by air defence operations, were confirmed to be the result of Ukrainian drone strikes.

The cities affected by the explosions included Feodosiia, Kerch, and Yurkine. In Yurkine, located near Kerch, at least three very powerful explosions occurred. Local residents reported hearing these explosions and drone activity.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting or destroying a large number of Ukrainian drones during this period. Ukrainian sources confirmed drone attacks on military and industrial targets in Crimea and other Russian regions during these dates.

The Crimean Bridge, a crucial transport link between Russia and Crimea, was closed to traffic at 23:50 on 1 August. However, the reasons for the restriction were not specified. At 05:04 the next day, traffic on the bridge resumed.

Despite the confirmation of the drone strikes, the cause or nature of the explosions remains unknown. Russian monitoring channels reported that the all-clear had been given, but no further information regarding the consequences of the explosions has been made available yet.

The Krymskyi Veter Telegram channel was among those reporting the explosions. As of now, no official statement has been made by either the Ukrainian or Russian authorities regarding the incidents.
