Loud and Crystal-Clear Audio at Avnet Arena
The Avnet Arena Magdeburg, set to serve as the home venue for the 1. FC Magdeburg U23 team in the Regionalliga Nordost, is undergoing a significant sound system upgrade, costing approximately 1.3 million euros and funded entirely by the state capital of Magdeburg.
The upgrade aims to modernise the arena, making it a Bundesliga-ready event venue. Clear communication, an enhanced spectator experience, and effective support for live broadcasts and in-venue announcements are all key aspects of the new sound system.
Schüller, a representative, stated that the new sound system was chosen as a long-term solution, meeting current requirements and being relevant for five or ten years. The goal is to provide even, standard-compliant coverage of all seating and standing areas, ensuring that every fan can enjoy clear audio.
The new sound system will feature modern line-array systems targeted at the stands, and it meets all DFL and DFB requirements for Bundesliga stadiums, including speech intelligibility and emergency announcements.
The aging sound system, in operation for nearly two decades, is being replaced due to the manufacturer no longer supporting the Magdeburg Arena, making replacement parts and maintenance services unavailable. However, this is not mentioned in the context of the new system.
The new sound system was designed by PROAID engineers from Mönchengladbach, and acoustic simulations were conducted in advance for the new sound system at the Avnet Arena Magdeburg. The new system's ease of maintenance and long-term support from the manufacturer provide additional peace of mind for ongoing operations at the Avnet Arena Magdeburg.
A technician on-site at the Avnet Arena Magdeburg notes that a good sound system is one that is not noticed because everything is clear. This upgrade is expected to be completed by mid-July, in time for the first home game of the new season in the 2. Bundesliga.
Schüller views the full funding by the state capital as a political statement, especially in times of tight budgets, and interprets it as a sign of reliability and a commitment to professional football in Magdeburg. This commitment to modernising the Avnet Arena Magdeburg underlines the city's dedication to providing a top-tier sporting experience for both fans and players.
